Chelsey Ingersoll Testimonial

Dear Lovely Miss Orem 2010 Contestants,

First of all, CONGRATULATIONS on choosing to participate in this wonderful program! Such is a decision that you will always be pleased you made. As I reflect back to a year ago, it seems like a whirlwind since I was in the exact position you are in now. Miss Orem was my first pageant and was an entirely new experience for me. I remember sitting at the Mix and Mingle and being presented with all the same information you have been, and going through a various spectrum of emotions in response. I was excited to get started since the program seemed new and exciting. I was nervous because I wasn’t entirely aware of what I was getting myself into, and I was intimidated by all of the other contestants that I was among. I’m going to assume that these same emotions are some you may be experiencing yourself at this time. If I can give you any advice, it is to disregard all, but being excited. There is no need to be nervous. Trying new things is life is what it’s all about.

My philosophy towards life, is that the entire purpose of it is progress; that each and every day is about changing others lives by improving your own. By participating in this program- that is precisely what you are doing. I understand that intimidation is also common and expected sine any competitive event encompasses such. However, I advise you to look at your fellow contestants as your new great friends. Develop friendships with one another. Care for one another. Be there for one another for support and comfort – not competition and intimidation. This experience can be a life changing one, but only if you allow it to be. So… BE EXCITED! You’re about to embark on a journey that you will never forget. A process in which by the time May 15th has come to date, you can reflect back upon this moment that you’re reading this letter and realize the transformation that has occurred within yourself. Be open to this.

Contesting in this Miss Orem pageant will mold you into a more refined woman by improving your poise, interview skills, and above all, your ability to stand confident in who you are. Let this happen. Open your heart to this process by giving it your all. Just dive in. Our wonderful director, committee and myself are always here to comfort, love and help you in any way that we’re able. You will never be alone throughout this adventure. If I may emphasize one more thing to you, please always remember the purpose of this Miss America Organization. It’s not about beauty, fashion, or superficiality; Rather, it seeks for a young woman who understands the importance of service, of inner confidence in who she is, and then embraces such. I believe that all of you are already this woman since you’re choosing to contest. Now just keep your focus centered upon such, and you will be assured to excel and grow. Remember that CONFIDENCE is the companion to SUCCESS. Believe in who you are. Believe in yourself. One of my favorite quotes is, “Success is not measured by what you do compared to what others do, it is measured by what you do with the ability God gave you.” Throughout this process, remember that. You CAN do this. You have the capacity, the ability and the capability.

I guess there are only two things left to say: Are you ready? Are you excited? I am.

Love, Chelsey Ingersoll
