Miss Orem 2006 Testimonial

Dear Miss Orem Contestants,

I stood there, paralyzed with anticipation; my heart pounded as if it was going to explode from within me. The emcee was teasingly taking what felt like hours to announce the winners. After the longest thirty seconds of my life, the audience went silent. Very authoritatively, he announced, “And now, our 2006 Miss Orem is…..# 9, Ashley Boulter!” For a brief second, I stood there stunned, not believing what he said, and then I was swarmed by my fellow contestants. Not only was that night a wonderful memory which I will never forget, it was the beginning of an amazing journey.

As Miss Orem, I’ve had countless memorable experiences. Some of my fondest memories include: playing Frisbee with my royalty in our gowns before some of the parades; performing at Orem’s Summerfest; participating at some Chamber of Commerce events; promoting my platform, Music is Instrumental, with a very successful benefit concert; empowering youth to set goals for themselves, and inspiring them to reach for their full potential; and being given many opportunities to share my love and passion for music through my violin. Lastly, I’ll never forget the opportunity I had to be an example and a representative of Orem, this amazing city!!

To all those who helped me--THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!! To Kimberly Harris and the Miss Orem committee, thank you for helping me start this journey. To my wonderful royalty, thank you for your friendship, love, and support. You’re the best! Jenny Flores, thank you for your friendship and for always being there for me. Kristee, you have inspired me to reach for my potential. Your guidance and influence has truly changed my life. Thank you to all those who are supporting me as I prepare for Miss Utah: Zion’s Bank, the Kreutzkamps, Val Ingoldsby (Curves of Orem), the Speckhards, Bowens, and Grovers. Your encouragement means so much to me. To Summerhays Music, thank you for being such a tremendous help and support as I promote my platform. I couldn’t have done it without you! Lastly, I’d like to thank my family. If it wasn’t for your help, encouragement and infinite love, I would not be the person that I am today. Mom, thank you for the innumerable hours you spent helping me prepare for every event in my life! I love you all so much!

To the class of 2007, I wish you the best of luck! You are embarking on an incredible journey. Eleanor Roosevelt said, “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” Dream big, and believe in yourself, because anything is possible!
